THE HYARTS ARTIST SHANTIES WILL BE OPEN FOR THE SEASON THE WEEKEND OF 5/17!
Check out two shanty locations, at Harbor Overlook and Bismore Park. Meet Cape Cod artists and artisans working and selling their handmade, hand designed or hand crafted items. There is no fee to browse and of course if purchases are made it is a fabulous way to shop local and support the creative community. Artists frequently open early and stay late, and rotate weekly!

7/3- 8/16, 2024 Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival – Hailed by The New York Times as “a triumph of quality,” the Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival (CCCMF) announced its 2024 summer concert series, running from July 30-August 16, 2024. Celebrating its 45th season, the Festival presents 10 live performances over three weeks in five venues across Cape Cod. In what has become one of the region’s largest cultural events attracting thousands of concertgoers each year, this summer’s Festival is bursting at the seams with creativity and virtuosity. Prominently showcasing acoustic sounds, this year’s Festival is centered around the string quartet. Each week is anchored by back-to-back concerts by today’s leading string quartets: Borromeo, Ying, and Escher. 7/20, 10AM, Osterville Village Day, Osterville Baptist Church – A FREE day of fun for the family featuring live music, taco and ice cream trucks, interactive games and face painting for the kids along with goodie bags for the first 600 kids, and NOAA’s inflatable whale “Salt” and the educational “Underwater Carnival.” Everyone gets a raffle ticket, too, for some great prizes! 7/20 – 7/21, 9th Annual Sandwich Arts and Crafts Fair, Sandwich High School – Over 75 booths of American made arts and crafts, traditional fair food, specialty foods, free admission, and friendly-leashed pets are allowed. Rain or shine!

7/20, 7:30PM, Chamber Music Concert: Echoes of Eastern Europe, Brewster Performing Arts Center – Delight in an evening of chamber music filled with the rich melodies and vibrant rhythms of Eastern Europe. Hear composers including Khachaturian and Babajanian, as well as Arutiunian’s virtuosic Trumpet Concerto. This performance featuring strings, trumpet, and piano promises to be a wonderful musical journey at Cape Cod’s new Arts Empowering Life Performing Arts Center in Brewster. TICKETS. 

 

7/21 & 7/24 – 7/26, Chara Percussion Ensemble in Concert: Passage to an Uncharted World – Embark on a captivating musical journey, from the graceful dances of European impressionists like Ravel and Dvorak, alongside the rich tapestry of American contemporary composers including Michael Burritt, Christopher Deane, Steve Reich, and Austin Keck. 7/27, 1:30PM, Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star Game, Guv Fuller Field, Falmouth – The best players from the Cape Cod Baseball League will battle it out between the East and West divisions. It’s an exciting day full of family fun! The gates open at 1:30 p.m., players will sign autographs at 2 p.m., the Home Run Derby happens at 4, and the game starts at 6 PM. 7/27 & 7/28, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back in Concert, Barnstable Performing Arts Center – The Cape Symphony Orchestra will present Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back in Concert featuring composer John Williams’ GRAMMY®-winning score performed live to the film. Fans will experience the scope and grandeur of this beloved film in a live symphonic concert led by conductor Thiago Tiberio on Saturday, July 27 at 7:30 PM and Sunday, July 28 at 3:00 PM at the Barnstable Performing Arts Center, 744 West Main Street, Hyannis. Attendees of the 33rd Woods Hole Film Festival have the opportunity to see as many feature length and short films as time allows during the 8-day festival! If after eight days you aren’t able to watch all the films you were interested in seeing, or if you can’t make it to the festival in-person, many films will also be available for streaming on the Festival’s virtual platform immediately following the in-person screenings from Sunday, August 4 through Sunday, August 11. Besides film screenings, there are Q&As with filmmakers, panel discussions, workshops, parties featuring some of the best musical acts from Cape Cod, and master classes, including one with Filmmaker-In-Residence Doug Blush, award-winning director, producer, editor, writer and cinematographer and Oscar winner for such documentaries as 20 Feet from Stardom, The Elephant Whisperers, and Period. End Of Sentence (he also executive produced three of this year’s festival entries, Champions of the Golden Valley, First We Bombed New Mexico and Counted Out).

7/27 – 7/28, 10 – 2, 2nd Annual Glass Bazaar, Sandwich Glass Museum – Sandwich is the birthplace of the world’s first industrialized glass. The Sandwich Glass Museum, which honors that legacy and showcases new and emerging glass artists, will host its 2nd annual Glass Bazaar to celebrate creativity and American ingenuity. The sale will take place outside the museum under a tent on July 27 and 28, featuring works from both local and national glass artists. 7/28, 11AM, Love Local Fest, July Edition, Aselton Park – This is the kickoff of the 12th season of Love Live Local’s free, fun, and family-friendly Love Local Fests. Nearly 100 of the Cape’s best local artists, brands, and makers will be there, along with local food trucks and local brewers. 7/31 – 8/2, Bayberry Quilters Annual Quilt Show, Cape Cod Regional Technical High School – The theme this year is “Welcome Aboard!” Some admire the handiwork of some of the most talented crafters in the region, along with vendors for shopping and demonstrations. More info here.

 

8/2 & 8/3, 7:30PM, Brass & Organ Concerts, Church of the Transfiguration – These brilliant summer concerts will include these works: Canzona septimi toni by Gabrielli, Proclamation by Davoren, an arrangement of Walton’s Crown Imperial, Gigout’s Grand Choer DialogueSong of Hope by Meechan, Fire in the Blood by Cooper, and Goffen’s Meditation – The Light of the World. 8/2, 5PM, LaTavola, Mashpee Commons – Enjoy an evening of Italian food, drink, music and FUN! 400 dinner guests will be treated to a complimentary house wine or beer and a five-course Italian feast. 8/3, 7PM, Hyannis Sound 30th Anniversary Celebration, Barnstable Performing Arts Center – Cape Cod’s premiere all-male professional a cappella group is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a special reunion concert! Hyannis Sound consists of 10 young men who perform songs for every generation all summer long on the Cape and in the greater-Boston area. To celebrate their 30th anniversary, they’ve invited more than 120 alumni back for an unforgettable evening of music and stories. In 30 years, the Hyannis Sound has notched over 3,000 performances, released 16 albums, and performed everywhere from kindergarten classrooms to Fenway Park. Alumni have appeared on Broadway; competed on American Idol, America’s Got Talent, and The Voice; and have become members of renowned singing groups like Straight No Chaser! 8/4, 9AM, Pet First Aid/CPR Course, CC Dog Center, Mashpee – Learn first aid techniques that will help you address the most common emergencies that can occur with small and large dogs as well as cats, as well as to notice abnormalities and detect early warning signs of illness. You will also learn essential pre-vet care and life saving techniques for those times when immediate action can make all the difference. Certification included; pre registration is required.
