This Low-cost Airline Has 25% off Flights to Europe for Fall and Winter — How to Book

Low-cost Icelandic airline Play is helping travelers plan a European shoulder season vacation by offering 25 percent off fall and early winter flights.

The sale, which must be booked by 11:59 p.m. ET on Aug. 1, is available for travel from the United States to Iceland, Copenhagen, Paris, London, Amsterdam, Berlin, and Dublin, the airline shared with Travel + Leisure. The sale is available for one-way or roundtrip flights between Sept. 15 and Dec. 15.

“Budget travelers know that researching and planning ahead pays off in savings, enabling them to get even more out of every trip,” PLAY CEO Einar Örn Ólafsson said in a statement shared with T+L. “The ‘shoulder season’ is around the corner,  and travelers should book their trips now to snag a discount on PLAY’s already affordable fares for their best trip yet.”

Travelers can save 25 percent off airfare, but the sale does not include taxes, fees, or carrier charges. The discount is for Play’s “Basic Bundle” fare, which includes one personal item in the ticket price, but does not include a carry-on or checked bag.

To book the sale, passengers can fly out of one of Play’s U.S. gateway airports: Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), New York Stewart International Airport (SWF), or Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).

Play first launched in Europe in 2021 before starting flights from the U.S. the next year. The low-cost airline, which operates an Airbus fleet, uses a “hub-and-spoke model” in which all flights connect through Reykjavik before heading on to other destinations across Europe. The airline flies to more than two dozen European cities.

As a bonus to the sale, Play will allow travelers to add a free stop-over in Reykjavik on the way to or from Europe. Travelers can add up to 10 days in Iceland to their bookings.
